The laboratory test focused on studying the behavior under load of the polymer element of an elastic coupling.
The test was performed on an elastic coupling subjected to unidirectional cyclic torsion under established environmental conditions. It was aimed at comparing the torsional behavior of different types of polymeric compounds characterizing the elastic element of the joint at a temperature of 80 ° C with a tolerance of ± 2 ° C. For its execution, a triaxial test machine was used, equipped with an environmental chamber capable of guaranteeing the required test temperature. The test was carried out on samples of elastic elements made with different compounds. Each test was carried out by imposing a variable torsional load between a minimum of 370 Nm and a maximum of 450 Nm at a frequency of 10 Hz for a minimum duration equal to or greater than 250,000 cycles.
The test was carried out on behalf of the company SIT S.p.A. in Cusago [MI]
